Building zone
Area that may be built on according to the municipal zoning plan – the prerequisite for building land.
The building zone is the part of a municipality designated for development in the land-use plan (Art. 15 Spatial Planning Act). It is divided into zone types such as residential, mixed, work or industrial zones, zones for public buildings or core zones. Everything outside is agricultural or protected land, where building is possible only by exception.
The zoning of every parcel is stated in its PLR extract. Parzella shows the zone type in the list and on the detail page, weighs it in the score ("zoning") and lets you filter by zone type. For cantons without a released PLR bulk service, the federal harmonised building-zone dataset (ARE) is used.
